We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join the vibrant café team at Roots and Shoots as a Café Assistant within our garden centre. What You'll Be Doing
As a Café Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring our customers receive outstanding service every day. Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting customers warmly and taking orders accurately with a friendly, positive attitude.
- Preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, following our quality standards.
- Assisting with food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and other café favourites, ensuring excellent presentation and freshness.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming café environment, including workstations, dining areas, and service counters.
- Operating the till and handling cash transactions accurately while providing exceptional customer service.
- Restocking ingredients, supplies, utensils, and equipment to keep the café running smoothly.
- Following all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures to maintain the highest standards.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for energetic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals who enjoy working as part of a team.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous barista experience or familiarity with coffee-making equipment (preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided).
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Experience serving customers in a busy, fast-paced environment (advantageous).
- Basic maths skills and confidence handling cash transactions.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- A positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.
- Availability to work weekends.
