HGV Class 2 Delivery Driver
Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours guaranteed per week
Pay: £15.00 per hour (£35,100 per annum based on 45 hours), plus overtime
We are recruiting for an experienced and reliable HGV Class 2 Delivery Driver to join a busy logistics team based in Newent, Gloucestershire.
The role involves delivering timber and composite doorsets to customers across the UK, primarily throughout England. Due to the flexible nature of the transport operation, you will be required to drive a variety of vehicles, including 18-tonne HGV Class 2 vehicles, 7.5-tonne lorries and 3.5-tonne vans.
The number of deliveries will vary depending on the route, with an average of approximately 5–10 drops per day.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Safely driving and operating vehicles up to 18 tonnes
- Driving a range of vehicles, including HGV Class 2, 7.5-tonne and 3.5-tonne vehicles
- Delivering doorsets to customers across the UK
- Completing approximately 5–10 deliveries per day, depending on the route
- Loading and unloading products and carrying out manual handling duties
- Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule
- Completing relevant vehicle and delivery paperwork
- Following planned routes and managing deliveries across the UK motorway network
- Occasionally staying away overnight when required
- Representing the business in a professional and positive manner
Working Hours
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position with a guaranteed 45-hour contract.
- Early starts are required, typically from 3:00am onwards
- Daily working hours may vary depending on the delivery schedule
- Typical working weeks may be up to 50 hours
- Overtime is paid at 1.33x the standard hourly rate for all hours worked over 45 hours per week
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A current and valid driving licence
- A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence as a minimum
- A valid Driver CPC qualification
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous experience driving vehicles up to 18 tonnes
- To be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Experience or confidence with early morning starts
- A good knowledge of the main motorway networks across England
- Flexibility to drive different types of vehicles as required
- Willingness to stay away overnight on occasion
- Your own transport to travel to the Newent Business Park location
