We are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic psychology graduate for an exciting opportunity working alongside our multidisciplinary pain service.
The post holder will support psychology-informed service development projects, data management and the multi-disciplinary pain management programme.
The post holder will need skills and confidence in using technology, as they will support clinical work in person, via telephone and video call. Experience of working with people with long term conditions and of working with groups is desirable. You will be willing to work with the team on a range of innovative projects.
- To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within the service, across all sectors of care.
- Undertake clinically supervised work with service users on a one-to-one basis delivering psychological /therapeutic interventions, both individual and group based.
- Under supervision, the postholder will plan, organise, and teach on a variety of psycho-educational courses.
- Work independently according to a plan agreed with HCPC registered Clinical Psychologists and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
- Undertake Research and Development (R&D) activities under the supervision of responsible Clinical Psychologist or others, for example: to assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, and teaching and project work.

To undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients applying psychological, including neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. To work
alongside the multi-disciplinary pain management programme team.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, in out-patient and in-patient settings.
To collate and report audit data to support development projects of the service and pilots of clinical interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups and the pain management programme. To work with psychologists and other therapists assisting them with group sessions.
To work with other staff to assess in-patients or out-patients and review their care and progress in preparation for multi-disciplinary team meetings.
To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
To hold a small case load of therapeutic work.
To facilitate and support the involvement of service users, specifically to support the
expert patient talks on programmes and other service user developments in the service, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
To undertake relevant research in the area of pain psychology and multidisciplinary pain management programmes.
To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
