· Support pupils with SEND on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
· To keep relevant and informative records of progress made in line with the school’s record keeping policy.
· Help pupils develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
· Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
· Encourage positive behaviour and promote inclusion within the classroom.
· Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
· Support pupils with personal care or medical needs where required.
· Assist with classroom preparation and maintaining a safe learning environment.
· Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals.
· Promote safeguarding and follow school policies and procedures at all times.
· To carry out specific duties related to the needs of the child e.g. child in a wheelchair needing to be taken to the toilet / to support the child at playtimes if social skills and forming friendships are a problem.
· Be willing to participate in programmes or activities which are beneficial for their child e.g. motor skills, speech and language
· To prepare materials as required
· Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
· Be aware of and support difference and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
· Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
· Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
· Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
