St Davids Cathedral is a major centre or worship and tourism in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, attracting over 200,000 visitors a year from across the world. The Cathedral’s Cleaning/Caretaking team play a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the public areas of the Cathedral, thus ensuring our worshippers and visitors enjoy all aspects of their time with us.
Our Cleaning/Caretaking team usually comprises three part time staff. Due to the retirement of one member of the team, we are seeking a new person who will start work in early August.
This role is for five mornings a week in the Cathedral, Saturdays to Wednesdays inclusive. We are open to this role being a job share (e.g. you might work alternate Saturdays and Sundays).
The postholder needs need to live locally and have their own transport (note there are no buses on Sundays).
Please note that we cannot help with the costs of moving from another area and there is no accommodation provided. We do not provide sponsorship schemes for those who need a permit to work in the UK, and we will not respond to applications from outside the UK or RoI.
Responsibilities
- cleaning areas of the Cathedral on a rotational basis
- cleaning public and staff lavatories on the Cathedral site
- monitoring lavatories and reporting any issues
- emptying rubbish bins in lavatories
- answering queries from visitors such as where the lavatories are located
- liaising with the Head Verger on stocks of janitorial supplies e.g. toilet rolls, soap, cleaning fluids
- as required, cleaning other buildings which form part of the Cathedral site
- compliance with Health & Safety legislation and best practice at all times; report any concerns regarding H&S matters immediately to the COO
- any other tasks as required and after discussion.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
