The Opportunity
Our client is a leading UK contractor with an established reputation for delivering complex, high-value projects across a range of sectors including life sciences, healthcare, commercial, education and advanced manufacturing.
Due to continued growth and the successful award of a major life sciences development in Oxford, they are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join the project delivery team. The Role
As Senior Engineer, you will lead the site engineering function and work closely with the Project Manager, construction team, consultants and subcontractors to ensure the successful delivery of key project packages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the site engineering team and supporting the development of Site Engineers
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract documentation to ensure buildability and compliance
- Ensuring accurate setting out and dimensional control across all work packages
- Managing external survey requirements and technical coordination
- Overseeing earthworks, piling, groundworks, drainage, structural steel and building envelope packages
- Coordinating temporary works requirements and ensuring compliance with procedures
- Producing and managing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Maintaining quality assurance records and compliance documentation
- Monitoring construction progress against programme requirements
- Supporting programme development, site logistics and sequencing activities
- Identifying and communicating risks that may impact project delivery
- Chairing subcontractor meetings and coordinating project stakeholders
- Producing progress reports and maintaining accurate site records
- Ensuring all activities are delivered in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
RequirementsEssential
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Senior Engineer or similar position
- Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale construction projects
- Strong setting out and engineering management experience
- Experience working on groundworks, drainage and structural steel packages
- SMSTS qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Previous experience on life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical or advanced technology projects
- Experience delivering reinforced concrete structures, including slipform or jumpform construction
- First Aid qualification
- Experience using digital quality and construction management systems
- Strong IT and reporting capabilities
- Experience managing Site Engineers and mentoring junior team members

Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
