Summary
Hutton is a popular Voluntary Aided Church of England comprehensive school situated near Preston. The school admits boys only from 11-16 with 670 students currently on roll. The school also has a co-educational Sixth Form which offers a broad range of A level courses and currently has 132 students on roll. The school was judged Good in all areas by Ofsted in May 2022 and received a positive report from SIAMS in January 2026 which recognised that pupils and adults are individually known, nurtured and inspired.
We are looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic administrator to provide support to the Head Teacher, Senior Leadership team and Governing Board and work under the direction of the School Business Manager to undertake a wide range of administrative duties including maintenance of pupil records, administration of school admissions, minute taking and communications with parents and external agencies.
Previous experience of administration work in a school and a working knowledge of SIMS would be a significant advantage but is not an essential requirement. Applicants must have at least a grade C in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE (or equivalent). Excellent communication and ICT skills and the ability work well as part of a team are essential. Applicants must have a clear understanding of the need for confidentiality and be able to carry out tasks independently with accuracy and diligence. A positive, can do attitude is also key to this busy role.
This is a full time role (37 hours a week) and the successful candidate will work term time plus an additional two weeks during the school holidays (exact dates to be agreed with the School Business Manager). The salary stated will be reduced to reflect the part-year nature of the role. The hours of work would be 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday Thursday and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Fridays with 30 minutes for lunch.
