About the role
Required is an experienced, reliable and compassionate nanny to care for one child in their own home while the child's parent attends routine medical treatment. Further information about the care arrangements will be discussed with shortlisted applicants, while protecting the family's privacy.
Hours are negotiable and will vary according to the parent's treatment schedule, typically within the period 8am to 8pm. Applicants should therefore be able to offer reasonable flexibility.
Key responsibilities
- Provide safe, attentive and age-appropriate care, supporting the child's usual routines.
- Plan suitable activities and provide meals, snacks and practical care as agreed.
- Communicate clearly with the parent and relevant representative, including reporting any incidents or concerns.
- Follow agreed safeguarding, health and safety, emergency and confidentiality arrangements.
Essential requirements
- Enhanced DBS check with the Children's Barred List; DBS Update Service membership is welcomed.
- Valid paediatric first aid training suitable for the age of the child.
- A relevant Level 2 childcare qualification or training in the common core skills.
- Current public liability insurance appropriate for nanny services.
- Right to work in the UK, reliable travel to Culgaith and two satisfactory professional references.
- Full UK Drivers License and vehicle (or means of self transportation)
Desirable
- Substantial professional experience caring for primary-school-aged children.
- Current registration on the voluntary part of Ofsted’s Childcare Register as a nanny/home childcarer.
- Experience supporting children with complex needs, together with current safeguarding training.
- Experience supporting families through illness or changing routines.
- A calm, dependable and discreet approach, with clear communication and flexible availability.
