OverviTyne Tees Damp Proofing is an established specialist damp-proofing company covering Newcastle, Northumberland and the wider North East.
We carry out a wide range of specialist works including rising damp treatments, penetrating damp, condensation control, timber treatments, basement waterproofing and associated remedial works.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a practical, reliable and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance / Handyman to join our team.
The Role
This is a varied role supporting our damp-proofing technicians before, during and after remedial works.
Typical duties will include:
- Removing and refitting radiators before and after damp-proofing works.
- Isolating and making safe electrical sockets where required prior to works commencing.
- Refitting sockets and electrical fittings following completion of works.
- Refitting skirting boards following damp-proofing works.
- Installing small electrical appliances such as bathroom and kitchen extractor fans.
- Servicing sump pump systems.
- Installing and replacing sump pumps where required.
- Installing associated electrical supplies and pipework for sump pump systems.
- Carrying out minor plumbing works.
- Carrying out minor maintenance and reinstatement works associated with damp-proofing projects.
- Supporting our damp-proofing technicians and other trades where required.
- Using power tools and equipment safely.
- Keeping company vehicles, tools and working areas clean and organised.
The role can vary from day to day, so we are looking for someone who is practical, adaptable and confident carrying out a range of maintenance and trade-related tasks.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience in several of the following areas:
- General property maintenance / handyman work.
- Basic plumbing.
- Removing and refitting radiators.
- Refitting skirting boards.
- Basic electrical work and electrical isolation.
- Installing extractor fans.
- Pumps, drainage or associated pipework.
- Working confidently with power tools.
Experience within damp proofing, building maintenance or property refurbishment would be an advantage, although specialist damp-proofing experience is not essential.
You should be:
- Reliable and punctual.
- Able to work independently when required.
- Comfortable working as part of a team.
- Presentable and professional when working in customers' homes.
- Capable of problem-solving and carrying out practical tasks to a good standard.
- Willing to undertake a varied role rather than one single trade.
- Comfortable travelling to different properties throughout the working day.
Driving Licence
A full clean UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves travelling between customers' properties throughout the North East.
A company van will be provided for work purposes.
Hours
36 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 3:00pm
