MLH Transport Ltd is a well established family run transport and warehousing business based in Ely. We're looking for a reliable, hardworking and proactive Yard Operative who enjoys variety and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.
This is a varied role where you'll play an important part in keeping our transport operation running smoothly. No two days are the same, so we're looking for someone with a positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever required.
Duties will include:
- Loading and unloading vehicles using a forklift.
- Moving HGVs, trailers and other company vehicles safely around our depot and yard.
- Washing and presenting our HGV fleet, vans and trailers to a high standard.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe yard.
- General yard maintenance and housekeeping.
- Cleaning warehouse floors and communal areas using industrial cleaning equipment, including a floor scrubber.
- Assisting the warehouse team when required.
- Collecting vehicle parts and supplies.
- Driving company vehicles to collect drivers or support transport operations.
- Carrying out general maintenance and odd jobs around the site.
- Supporting the wider team with any other day to day operational tasks.
What we're looking for:
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Experience driving HGVs around a depot or yard would be an advantage (HGV licence desirable but not essential).
- Forklift licence required
- A hands-on, can-do attitude.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Someone who takes pride in keeping vehicles, equipment and the workplace clean and organised.
- Flexible and willing to help wherever needed.
