Waking Night Support Worker (Bank)
Location: Ormskirk, Lancs
Hourly Rate: £18.00 per hour
Hours: Bank Contract – 10:00pm to 10:00am (12-hour waking night shifts)
About the Role
Helpful Investments are looking for compassionate, resilient and dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to join our team on a bank (casual) basis. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide consistent care, supervision and emotional support throughout the night, ensuring the safety, wellbeing and security of the young people in our residential home.
Bank staff play a vital role in providing flexible cover across our service and should be willing to work on a rota basis, including weekends and public holidays where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people throughout the night.
- Carry out regular welfare and safeguarding checks in accordance with care plans and company procedures.
- Respond appropriately to any incidents, emergencies or safeguarding concerns.
- Maintain accurate records, logs and reports throughout the shift.
- Support young people who may wake during the night and require reassurance or assistance.
- Complete household duties to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
- Administer medication where trained and authorised.
- Work in line with Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding legislation and company policies.
- Participate in handovers to ensure effective communication between day and night staff.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Is calm, patient and able to remain professional under pressure.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Can work independently throughout the night.
- Has a flexible approach to working shifts on a bank basis.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Experience within residential childcare or a similar care setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
