Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Location
Windlesham, Surrey (Hybrid)
Minimum three days per week on-site, with additional on-site attendance required to support business and project requirements.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team and play a key role in the design, implementation, support and continual improvement of the organisation’s technology platforms.
This is a senior technical position suited to an individual who enjoys solving complex technical problems whilst also delivering infrastructure projects and helping shape the future direction of our IT estate.
The successful candidate will act as a 3rd Line technical escalation point while also taking ownership of infrastructure design, implementation, upgrades, migrations and technical projects across cloud and on-premises environments.
This role requires someone who is equally comfortable troubleshooting critical production issues, designing new solutions, documenting technical standards and communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support
· Act as the primary 3rd Line escalation point for complex infrastructure and application issues.
· Investigate and resolve high priority technical incidents and root cause problems.
· Perform advanced troubleshooting across infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms and business systems.
· Provide technical leadership and mentoring to 1st and 2nd Line engineers.
· Participate in major incident response and problem management activities.
Infrastructure Design & Delivery
· Design, implement and support secure, scalable and resilient IT infrastructure.
· Deliver infrastructure projects from initial design through implementation and handover.
· Lead server, storage, networking and cloud infrastructure deployments.
· Plan and execute operating system, application and infrastructure upgrades.
· Deliver migrations to modern cloud technologies where appropriate.
· Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for continual improvement.
· Develop and maintain infrastructure standards and reference architectures.
Microsoft Azure
· Administer and support Microsoft Azure environments.
· Design and deploy Azure infrastructure using Microsoft best practices.
· Manage Azure networking, identity, virtual machines, storage and backup solutions.
· Support Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity environments.
· Optimise Azure environments for security, resilience, performance and cost.
Operational Excellence
· Produce high quality technical documentation, procedures and standards.
· Maintain accurate system documentation and architecture diagrams.
· Develop automation wherever appropriate using PowerShell or other scripting tools.
· Ensure systems are maintained in accordance with security and compliance requirements.
· Participate in change management processes and technical governance.
Essential Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
· Minimum 10 years’ experience working within enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior Infrastructure Engineer or 3rd Line Support role.
· Experience designing and implementing enterprise infrastructure solutions.
· Experience delivering technical projects from design through deployment.
· Strong experience supporting business-critical production environments.

Azure Requirement
Candidates must hold Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) certification as a minimum or have demonstratable experience to this level.
Higher level certifications such as AZ-305 or equivalent are desirable.
Database Experience
Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including:
· Installation and configuration

Qualifications Essential
· Minimum AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certification
· Minimum 10 years’ commercial IT experience
· Minimum 3 years in a senior Infrastructure Engineer or equivalent role

· AZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert
· Microsoft 365 certifications
· ITIL Foundation
· Microsoft security certifications
Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
· Infrastructure as Code
· Power Platform (Apps, Automate, Pages, BI)
· ISO 27001 environments
· Cyber Essentials Plus
