PQA, a leading provider of weekend performing arts training, is currently looking for a local filmmaker to work with our students at PQA Nuneaton & Hinckley devising and shooting short films with students.
We currently have one session on Friday evenings at Hinckley but will also be launching a Saturday Academy in Nuneaton in January!
A great opportunity to work across both academies - we are looking for someone who will be available for both Academies.
You will be leading filmmaking workshops with children from 6 - 18 years creating material that can be screened in a local cinema and shared online. You will ideally have some experience working with children and young people and have a strong background making short films or television.
PQA follows safer recruiting. An enhanced DBS on the update service will be required and can be arranged.
Academies operate Term time only for 39 weeks out of the year.
Hinckley Academy starts back this Friday 4th September 2026
Hours are 4:30-8pm
Nuneaton Academy will commence in January 2027
Hours will be 9:30 - 1pm
We are looking for passionate film makers who want to inspire and create with creative young minds!
Film & TV teachers are expected to be a filmmaker – ideally, you will have experience as a director, editor and teacher with experience of making short films. You should have an up to date working knowledge of camera and sound recording skills and acting for camera techniques. You should be confident to create short films across genres and be proficient in editing. You should also understand the different conventions of film & television.
Essential criteria for Film & TV Teachers
- A filmmaker.
- A director/editor/teacher with experience of making short films.
- Experience of working with children and young people (not essential).
- A qualification in Film or TV ‘Production’ at degree level – (not a film studies or media studies qualification) OR at least 3 years’ experience as a professional filmmaker
- Demonstrable experience as a Filmmaker, Director/Producer or Videographer
- Teaching experience with young people aged 6-18
- A passion for teaching filmmaking to young people
- Demonstrable technical skills in camera operation, location sound recording, lighting, and film and video editing, and the confidence to deliver teaching in these areas
- Experience in the development and production of short form films and videos in a variety of genres
PQA offers support with fantastic Film & TV projects with full lesson plans, resources and support - Academy also provide a full Film & Television kit at Academy!
We have opportunities to enter PQA Film Challenges as well as national Film festivals and competitions. As well as working towards screening the students short films together at Local Cinema Screenings!
Pay: £65.00-£75.00 per day
