As Europe’s premier manufacturer, distributor and installer of non-mechanical plant and site safety equipment we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Depot Manager to run our distribution facility in South Wales.
As a depot manager you will be involved in every part of the business. From helping to load & unload vehicles, to managing site safety, people management & managing a few local and repeat customers for your depot.
The aim of a successful depot-manager is to have a revenue growing depot, that delivers efficiently on time & in full to its customer base. This role is a hybrid role between being office based & yard based, helping to turnaround drivers efficiently & safely.
This depot will cover South Wales & the South East of England – as far as Penzance. HERMEQ UK already has significant sales into this area & the depot will assume control of these, helping give us a local presence & improve our reliability & customer service in South Wales & the South West of England.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all deliveries to our customers are on-time and in full.
- Overseeing accurate stock control.
- People Management including training and recruiting your own operatives, managing timekeeping and attendance and all disciplinary matters.
- Oversee all loading and unloading activities, ensuring vehicles are loaded safely, efficiently, and in accordance with transport schedules and legal requirements.
- Manage daily warehouse, yard, and operational activities to ensure the smooth running of the depot.
- Ensure all loading operations are planned and executed to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise delivery delays.
- Monitor and maintain safe systems of work for loading, unloading, storage, and material handling activities.
- Ensure operational compliance with company procedures, health and safety legislation, and industry best practices.
The successful candidate will have:
- A forklift license.
- A commercial mindset with operational management experience in running a similar operation.
- Demonstrable warehousing and yard best-practice skills.
- Self-motivation with a passion for continuous improvement and setting high standards of workmanship.
- Strong PC skills especially within Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
- A diplomatic and collaborative approach to teamworking and conflict resolution.
- A “can-do,” approach to problem-solving.
- Agile management skills to achieve changing priority targets.
- To be structured and able to plan effectively.

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
