Job Summary
Ifp-labs UK West Yorkshire is a UKAS accredited Laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company based across two buildings.
We are looking for two Full-Time Team Leaders to join our Sample Receipt team.
Duties
- Overseeing the efficient day-to-day operation of the Sample Receipt area, ensuring all samples are handled, stored and processed in accordance with laboratory procedures and quality standards.
- Planning and prioritising workloads to meet laboratory requirements and client deadlines, liaising closely with Laboratory Managers and other departments.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, quality procedures, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and Health & Safety requirements.
- Investigating and escalating sample anomalies, quality issues, non-conformances and customer complaints as required.
- Supporting the management of staffing, equipment and resources to maintain an effective service.
- Delivering training and guidance to team members when required and promoting continuous improvement, efficient resource utilisation and high standards of performance.
- Carrying out additional duties as required to support the smooth running of the department and wider laboratory operations.
Essential Criteria
- 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English.
- Computer literate, with experience using Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, efficient and accurate, with excellent attention to detail.
- Reliable and able to work effectively as an integral part of a small team.
- Able to manage and prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
- Able and willing to undertake the physical aspects of the role, including lifting crates and sorting samples.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous team leading or supervisory experience.
- A good understanding of sample registration operations, including sample handling, storage and disposal procedures.
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and laboratory quality standards.
- Experience of coordinating workloads and prioritising tasks to meet business and client deadlines.
- Experience of working within Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Experience using LIMS or other laboratory, data management or administrative systems.
- Previous involvement in training or mentoring colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with different departments and stakeholders.
- Understanding of customer requirements and the importance of delivering a high-quality service.
Available hours are – (Pattern 1) Monday – Wednesday 8am – 8pm, or (pattern 2) Wednesday – Friday 8am – 8pm
Starting rate of pay £10.04 - £14.56 per hour, dependent on age.
Pay: £10.04-£14.56 per hour
Expected hours: 33.0 per week
