We are looking for an experienced Machinist Foreman/Manager with CNC and Manual machining skills to join our growing engineering team at our modern, state-of-the-art facility in Barham, Kent.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a small, dedicated team specialising in the manufacture and refurbishment of hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic cylinder components. The role combines hands-on machining with team leadership responsibilities, overseeing daily machine shop operations and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You will supervise a small team operating a range of manual and conversational CNC machines. Full training will be provided on the Style CNC programming system currently used within the business. The work is varied and interesting, ranging from one-off bespoke components to small production runs — meaning no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a small team of machinists
- Operate and oversee a range of manual and CNC machine tools
- Manage daily workloads and production schedules
- Manufacture hydraulic cylinder components and assemblies
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Work from engineering drawings and specifications
- Support continuous improvement within the machine shop
Requirements
- Previous machining experience essential
- CNC and manual machining experience required
- Supervisory or management experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship and safe working practices
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new systems
