Used Car Buyer – Performance & Prestige Vehicles
Location: Near Leighton Buzzard (Beds/Herts/Bucks border) — easily commutable from Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Luton, and St Albans
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Reporting to: General Manager
Salary: £42,000–£50,000 basic + performance bonus (OTE £54,000–£62,000)
We're looking for a Used Car Buyer for a role primarily focused on sourcing the best quality cars against our buying strategy, with tight integration into our sales operations. We need someone who understands what driving-focused buyers actually want, who can source the right stock at the right price, and who has the eye and instinct to spot a great car for the enthusiast market.
Alongside sourcing, you'll take day-to-day ownership of stock pricing and stock management strategy — from price reviews and deal stacking through to following each car's journey from purchase to sale. This is a genuinely senior, high-visibility role with direct exposure to the board.
Key Requirements (Essential)
- Proven experience sourcing performance and enthusiast-orientated cars — we need someone who understands this specific market, not used cars generally
- Established relationships with dealers and specialists for sourcing stock and placing part-exchanges
- Confident using a wide range of buying platforms and trade portals
- Experience managing vehicles through the whole process, from acquisition to point of sale
- Comfortable presenting stock and performance data to the board (e.g. a monthly board pack covering stock turn, margin, and aged inventory)
The Role
- Source used car stock in line with our buying strategy, with a focus on cars that genuine driving enthusiasts seek out
- Value part-exchange vehicles accurately and fairly
- Own stock pricing and pricing adjustments across the forecourt
- Build compelling sales adverts that do justice to the cars we source
- Work closely with the operations team to maintain our high prep standards
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure good communication of unique selling features and for feedback on stock performance and deal stacking
- Contribute to customer review management and social media content
- Attend regular senior management team meetings and monthly board meetings, feeding into stock and finance strategy discussions with the director team
