Summary
South East England (inluding Leicester· Home based with field travel · Company car · Uncapped commission
My client is seeking a laboratory instrumentation sales professional, covering London, the South East and East Anglia, with the territory reaching north towards the Midlands. You would carry a broad portfolio across several manufacturers rather than a single product line, selling into universities, research institutes, commercial testing labs and industry.
This is a genuine technical sale. The people who buy from you are scientists and lab managers, and they will ask you difficult questions. Ideally you bring both, technical sales experience and a scientific background behind it but if you have the science background in Chemistry, biochemistry or similar and a real appetite to sell, the commercial side is trained.
Who this suits
If you already sell technical or scientific products, this gives you a large, uncarved territory to run as your own, a portfolio broad enough that you can solve the problem in front of you rather than push the one box you happen to carry, and lab access to run customer samples and prove performance. Commission is uncapped and increases once you pass target.
If you have a chemistry, biochemistry or related background, whether that is a degree, hands on lab experience or both, and you want to move into a commercial role, this is one of the few openings where that route is genuinely open. Your technical credibility is the thing customers respond to. The sales process, negotiation and commercial side are trained, and the business already knows it is hiring someone who will learn them on the job. Wanting to sell is the one thing that cannot be trained.
The role
- Two to three days a week in front of customers across the territory, the rest from home
- Develop new business and grow existing accounts
- Run product demonstrations and deliver technical training
- Prepare quotations and tenders
- Present on technical merit, accurately and without overclaiming
- Negotiate commercial terms with manager oversight
What you need
- Either a track record in technical or scientific sales, or a science background with real evidence you want to move into a commercial role

- A full driving licence and willingness to travel across the territory
Package

- Uncapped commission, paid monthly, rising once you pass target
- Company car, hybrid or electric where available
- Private health cover
