Personal Assistant (Direct Payment) – Support for a Young Person
Hours: Flexible – term-time evenings after college, plus school holidays and weekends. 3 hours term time, 6 hours school holidays.
A friendly and supportive family is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to support a young person who is very active and enjoys being out in the community.
The young person has a keen interest in sport and enjoys a range of activities including swimming, football (particularly Middlesbrough FC), and fun outings such as crazy golf. This is a rewarding role for someone who is enthusiastic and happy to get involved in activities.
Duties will include:
- Supporting the young person to access community-based activities
- Taking part in sports and leisure activities together
- Encouraging small steps towards independence, such as handling money and managing change
- Supporting the development of social skills and understanding social cues
- Ensuring the young person’s safety and wellbeing at all times
The ideal candidate will:
- Be enthusiastic, positive and proactive
- Be friendly, sociable and approachable
- Be happy to actively participate in sports and outdoor activities
- Have a flexible approach to working hours
- Be able to encourage independence in a supportive way
- A full driving licence would be preferred but is not essential
