Job Overview
We are seeking a new Trustee to join our small board as a Volunteer Treasurer. You should have an understanding of finance to support other Trustees to understand joint financial responsibility of a charity, helping to set budgets and ensuring compliance with financial policies. Your proactive approach will help us achieve our charity aims effectively while promoting transparency and accountability. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute your accounting expertise and financial knowledge and make a meaningful impact within a passionate local charity.
Duties
- Oversee our financial records using accounting software , Xero
- Understand and present regular financial reports, including budgets, profit and loss reports, and balance sheets
- Potentially become a Bank Signatory for the charity
- Assist in developing annual budgets to support organizational goals
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with the board of Trustees to develop financial strategies
- Be an active member of the Board of Trustees, contributing to all business but with a focus on finance.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the voluntary sector/charity sector.
- Ideally, familiarity with accounting software Xero
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly to non-financial trustees
- Prior volunteer or board experience is a plus but not required
