- Or a related discipline
You don't need previous property management experience—we're looking for the right attitude, curiosity, ambition, and willingness to learn.
What is Block Management?
Block Management is the professional management of residential apartment buildings and estates on behalf of property owners and resident directors.
At Acara, our Property Managers are far more than administrators. They act as consultants, project managers, financial controllers, problem-solvers, and trusted advisors.
Each building operates like its own business, with income, expenditure, budgets, cashflow, compliance obligations, stakeholders, short-term operational challenges, and long-term strategic objectives.
As a Property Manager, you become responsible for helping that business operate successfully and advising its directors on how best to protect and enhance their assets.
What You'll Learn and Progress Into
As your knowledge and experience develop, you will learn how to:
- Manage a portfolio of residential properties
- Guide Boards of Directors in both short-term and long-term decision making
- Advise clients on lease obligations and statutory requirements
- Design, manage, and monitor annual budgets
- Support credit control and manage building cashflow
- Develop long-term Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plans
- Manage contractors and service providers
- Procure services and solutions both in-house and from third parties
- Oversee maintenance, repairs, and improvement works
- Deliver larger refurbishment and capital projects
- Host Board Meetings and Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
- Manage relationships with hundreds of stakeholders over many years
- Identify problems, design solutions, and implement improvements
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Effectively control annual budgets ranging from £50,000 to over £2 million
- Become a trusted source of expert knowledge and guidance for clients
Why This Role Is Different
Many graduate roles expose you to only one area of a business.
This role provides exposure to every aspect of business management.
Each Management Company that we represent functions like its own organisation, with:
- Income and expenditure
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Cashflow management
- Procurement responsibilities
- Contractor management
- Compliance obligations
- Stakeholder relationships
- Short-term operational challenges
- Long-term strategic planning
As your career develops, you will become the consultant responsible for helping those organisations operate effectively, solve problems, deliver projects, and achieve their objectives.
This makes the role an exceptional foundation for careers in management, consultancy, project management, operations, real estate, business leadership, and entrepreneurship.
