Meadowland Poultry Ltd is a purpose-built broiler farm located near Shrewsbury, rearing chickens for one of the UK's largest poultry processors.
Following significant investment, the business has expanded from six to nine state-of-the-art poultry houses, increasing capacity from approximately 240,000 to 360,000 birds. More recently, the Company has invested over £1 million in bird welfare, sustainability and renewable energy technologies, including solar power generation and heat exchange systems, helping to reduce environmental impact whilst maintaining the highest standards of poultry production.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Poultry Manager to join our high-performing Poultry Farm Operations Team on a permanent basis.
Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone with commercial broiler experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. The role would particularly suit someone who has achieved, or is working towards, a Level 3 qualification in Poultry Production, Agriculture or a related discipline, and is ready to take on greater responsibility within a progressive and supportive business.
Working alongside an experienced Farm Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the poultry operation, ensuring the highest standards of bird welfare, flock performance, biosecurity and compliance are maintained at all times.
This is a full-time position working a 40-hour week, Monday to Sunday, generally between 7.30am and 5.00pm, with flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required to support the operation and ensure the highest standards of bird welfare.
What will the role involve?
- Taking responsibility for the health, welfare and performance of every bird on site.
- Ensuring bird welfare remains the highest priority at all times.
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the poultry sheds.
- Monitoring flock health, performance, feed and water consumption, environmental conditions and production data.
- Maintaining accurate flock and farm records.
- Working closely with the Farm Manager to achieve agreed production and performance targets.
- Leading and supporting the poultry team, providing coaching and guidance to maintain consistently high standards.
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, animal welfare, environmental and biosecurity procedures.
- Working alongside veterinary and technical specialists to support flock health and vaccination programmes.
- Supporting crop turnaround activities and ensuring poultry houses are maintained to the highest standards.
- Maintaining professional standards of housekeeping and farm presentation.
- Participating in Red Tractor, customer and internal audits.
- Covering the farm alarm system, responding promptly to alarms or faults to protect bird welfare.
- Deputising for the Farm Manager when required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve flock performance, efficiency and continuous improvement across the poultry operation.
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience within a commercial broiler or livestock environment.
- A Level 3 qualification in Poultry Production, Agriculture or a related discipline, or someone currently working towards this level.
- Someone who is ready to take the next step in their poultry career and develop into a key management role.
- A genuine passion for farming, poultry production and animal welfare.
- Excellent stockmanship and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of biosecurity, Health & Safety and poultry welfare standards.
- Good communication skills with the confidence to positively influence and support colleagues.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and evenings when required.
