Occupational Therapist (Trauma-Informed & Neuro-Affirming)
Location: Nuneaton, Warwickshire (Midlands)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per year (pro rata)
Hours: 1–2 days per week, with the opportunity to increase as Forge Care continues to grow and expand our therapeutic services.
Are you an Occupational Therapist who sees behaviour through the lens of trauma, attachment and neurodiversity?
Forge Care is looking for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with children living in therapeutic residential care. We are seeking someone who can bring creativity, warmth and clinical expertise to help young people overcome barriers to participation and everyday life.
You will have experience supporting children and young people with Autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences and complex developmental trauma, and you'll understand how sensory needs can shape behaviour, emotional regulation and relationships.
We are particularly interested in someone who has experience in:
- Sensory integration principles and sensory-informed practice
- Sensory assessments and developing individual sensory profiles
- Designing and implementing sensory diets and practical sensory strategies
- Running or developing sensory circuits (or willingness to develop these skills)
- Supporting children with Autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences within residential settings
- Working collaboratively with residential teams to embed therapeutic strategies into everyday care
What we are looking for
✅ Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration
✅ Experience working with children and young people within residential care, CAMHS, education or similar therapeutic settings
✅ A strong understanding of developmental trauma, attachment and neurodiversity
✅ Confidence in assessing sensory processing needs and translating recommendations into meaningful everyday practice
✅ Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD and sensory processing differences
✅ Excellent communication, report writing and organisational skills
✅ A reflective practitioner who enjoys working within a multi-disciplinary team
✅ Passion for helping children develop independence, confidence and meaningful participation in everyday life
