Job Overview
We are currently looking for an organised and proactive Freight Forwarder to join our growing logistics team based in Grays. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced freight professional with strong operational knowledge and a customer-focused approach to join a fast-paced freight and transport environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily freight forwarding and logistics operations
- Coordinate end-to-end shipment processes including quoting, booking, documentation, tracking, and invoicing
- Handle import and export procedures in line with current customs and transport regulations
- Manage and coordinate European groupage services efficiently
- Liaise with transport partners, customs agents, overseas agents, and customers to ensure timely deliveries
- Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues or delays
- Provide professional and consistent customer service throughout the shipping process
- Negotiate rates and plan cost-effective transport solutions
- Maintain accurate operational records, shipment tracking, and invoicing information
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, customs requirements, and company procedures
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within freight forwarding or logistics operations
- Strong understanding of European groupage and FTL services and post-Brexit customs procedures
- Experience handling import/export documentation and customs processes
- Excellent communication, organisational, and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and freight management systems
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience working within a transport or logistics environment
- Knowledge of customs clearance systems
- Additional European language skills

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
