Job Purpose
To manage a caseload of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims from initial instruction through to settlement, ensuring files are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with client service standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable case law.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of NIHL claims independently from inception to conclusion
- Assess liability and quantum based on medical evidence and hearing loss reports
- Review audiograms, medical records, and occupational history evidence
- Instruct and liaise with medical experts, counsel, and external agencies
- Draft and review legal correspondence, pleadings, and settlement offers
- Negotiate settlements with opposing parties and insurers
- Ensure compliance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant protocols
- Maintain accurate case management system records and deadlines
- Identify fraud indicators and escalate where necessary
- Provide updates and reports to clients and senior handlers/partners
- Meet individual and team KPIs including file progression and settlement targets
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience handling NIHL or personal injury claims
- Strong understanding of occupational deafness / hearing loss claims
- Ability to interpret medical and audiology evidence
- Strong negotiation and settlement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
- Good working knowledge of case management systems
