Business Operations Project Manager
Southampton (Hybrid)
Turn ideas into action. Keep projects moving. Make sure nothing important slips.
Red Volcano is looking for someone who gets things over the line.
We're a small, highly successful AdTech business that runs lean, moves quickly, and relies on smart technology to maximise the impact of a talented team. We don't have layers of management or endless meetings - when something needs doing, we decide what's important and get on with it.
This isn't a traditional Project Manager role delivering client projects, nor a corporate PMO position focused on governance and reporting. It's a hands-on operational delivery role, and you'll own the initiatives that keep the business moving. One week you might be implementing a new internal system; the next, coordinating a customer compliance project, organising our presence at a major industry event, or making sure a business-critical initiative actually gets delivered.
You'll work closely with our CEO - one of the world's leading AdTech experts - who sets the direction and priorities. Your job is to take those priorities, organise the work, coordinate the right people, remove blockers, and make sure things happen.
What you'll actually do
- Drive internal business projects from idea through to completion
- Coordinate work across teams so everyone knows what they own and when it's due
- Follow up on actions and hold people to their commitments
- Remove blockers and keep things moving when priorities shift
- Improve processes, and introduce the tools and automations that help us work smarter
- Own internal documentation, SOPs and CRM quality
- Coordinate suppliers, legal and admin activity, customer onboarding and compliance
- Spot problems before they become bigger ones
In practice, "Can you sort this?" might mean:
- A major customer won't sign until we prove we meet their data and security requirements. You work out what's needed, coordinate the right people, and get it done on time.
- An internal project has stalled because teams have different priorities. You bring clarity, realign everyone, and get it back on track.
- We want to exhibit at a major industry event. You handle the logistics, organise the team, get the right meetings booked, and make sure it delivers real commercial value.
Who you are
You bring organisation and momentum to busy environments. Given an objective, you work out how to achieve it, involve the right people, and keep driving until it's finished - without anyone standing over you.
- Highly organised and calm, especially when things aren't
- Proactive - you spot problems before other people do
- Confident coordinating and influencing people without formal authority over them
- Good at turning ideas into clear plans, and at prioritising when everything's happening at once
- Curious about technology and always looking for smarter ways of working
- Comfortable pushing back constructively when priorities need challenging
You might currently be a Project Manager, Delivery Manager, Business Operations Manager, Operations Coordinator or similar - the title matters far less than being able to point to complex problems you've owned and driven through to completion in a fast-moving business. Experience in a technology business helps, but isn't essential.
Why it matters
You'll sit at the centre of a growing technology business and be the person who makes sure good ideas actually become reality. Our CEO will trust you with meaningful problems and give you the freedom to solve them. We run deliberately lean, achieving a great deal with a small team and the focused use of technology - so you'll build on strong foundations and help shape how the business operates as we grow.
For the right person, it's a route to becoming a senior operational leader as Red Volcano scales.
