Bookseller & Café Assistant
We’re looking for a new Bookseller & Café Assistant to join our independent bookshop, café and community space. One moment you could be helping a customer find their next favourite read; the next, you might be preparing drinks, serving cake, setting up for an event, restocking shelves or refreshing displays.
We’re less interested in a long list of previous experience and more interested in who you are.
Job Details
- Zero-hours contract (With a view to contracted hours in future)
- Applicants must be aged 18 or over
- Core opening hours are 9am to 5pm however due to events hours may fall anywhere between 8:30am and 11:00pm.
- Flexibility is essential, including availability across weekdays, evenings and weekends
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and genuinely wants to be part of building something special. Our customers quickly become regulars and friends, so you’ll need to be confident in a customer facing, sales focused role and genuinely enjoy interacting with people.
You will need to have a genuine interest in books and reading.
The following experience would be beneficial but not essential:
- Barista or café experience — full training can be provided
- Retail or sales experience
- Customer service experience
