Compliance Manager
Hours per week: 30hrs worked flexibly over 4 days
Salary: £15.95 per hour

Job Purpose
The Care and Compliance Manager will oversee quality assurance, clinical governance, and regulatory standards across the residential care home. The primary focus is to ensure the facility consistently delivers safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led services. This role bridges administrative regulatory requirements and day-to-day care practices, driving continuous improvement to achieve and maintain top regulatory ratings. Promotes the recognition and adoption of CQC standards. 3 month probation period.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Alignment & Audit Frameworks
- Lead inspection readiness programmes and coordinate responses during formal regulatory inspections.
- Conduct regular audits across care delivery, medication management, infection control, and record-keeping. Analyse audit data and preparation of written reports on audit findings.
- Interpret regulatory updates and translate changing health and social care legislation into actionable workplace practices.
- Formulate action plans to address any compliance gaps or areas flagged for improvement.
Clinical Governance & Care Quality
- Monitor quality indicators including resident falls, pressure ulcers, medication errors, and incidents such as abuse, care plans, complaints and make sure all recommendations are sent to staff and adhered to.
- Oversee care planning to ensure digital and physical records are accurate, highly person-centred, and legally compliant.
- Enforce safeguarding protocols and lead investigations into safeguarding concerns or whistleblowing reports.
- Audit medication processes to ensure flawless storage, administration, and recording systems.
Policy & Workforce Development
- Review corporate policies annually to align them with current best practice frameworks and local authority contracts. Examples include Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety.
- Identify training needs relating to statutory compliance.
- Track policy acknowledgements across the entire workforce to ensure operational staff are aware of updates.

Health, Safety & Premises Compliance
- Monitor statutory maintenance logs for premises risks including fire safety servicing, LOLER, legionella, etc.
- Maintain a current knowledge of infection control through mandatory updates and role specific training.
- Manage GDPR frameworks to protect confidential data, personal records, and resident anonymity.
- Complete room/ communal space checks to ensure that all rooms, corridors and common spaces are maintained and free of hazards.
- Promote the ideals of continuous improvement within the home.
- Inform the home manager of any emergency, incidents or any major breach of company policy.
- Report to home manager any breaches of company policy, H&S legislation that could be detrimental to service users, staff or visitors to the home.
- Undertake task specific audits on areas of concern or development to the home to continually improve and support.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation.
- Learn from near misses, complaints and concerns and implement into policies and staff learning.
Person Specification
Experience
Minimum 2years in a quality, compliance, or care manager role within a residential/health care environment.
Previous experience as a Registered Manager in a Care Home setting
Qualifications
NVQ / QCF Level 3 for Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Train the Trainer qualification.
Compliance certification.
Knowledge
Expert understanding of CQC Fundamental Standards, Health & Social Care Act regulations, MCA, and DoL’s.
Familiarity with digital social care records and modern online care planning software.
Skills
Exceptional critical thinking, structured communication, investigative auditing, training and data interpretation.
Project management skills and experience managing local authority/CQC compliance.
