An exciting 12-month Fixed Term opportunity for a Programme Manager has opened up at London’s Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).
London’s VRU is focused on stopping violence before it happens through an approach that is rooted in prevention and early intervention.
We are tasked with focussing on a strengths-based & health & wellbeing approach to reducing violence across the capital, increasing feelings of safety for all Londoners especially children, and ensuring that communities and young Londoners are at the heart of sustainable and long-term change. We also have a Young Persons Advisory Group who guide our activity & play an active role in our governance.
This is a new role with primary responsibility for developing and driving a range of policies and programmes across the VRU, including delivery of a London-wide safety programme as part of the Mayor’s Investment in Youth Clubs, supporting new sports initiatives which includes the oversight of a new partnership to deliver the Premier League Kicks programme in London and supporting developing new strands of work connected to the VRU’s Community Safety & Prevention and Communities and Young People portfolios. The Programme Manager will work collaboratively across the VRU, MOPAC and GLA and establish new partnerships to drive forward the work.
We are seeking an officer with strong commissioning experience, strong experience of working on issues related to violence reduction and/or tertiary youth work, alongside a proven ability to manage programmes, work at pace and build partnerships to deliver high-quality outcomes.

- Using examples, please outline your experience of partnership working to address violence concerns and the key stakeholders you would need to engage with to tackle violence in London
- Using examples, please tell us about your experience of commissioning programmes/services and budget and contract management.
