Job Description
Herschel Infrared Ltd is a dynamic and high-growth international company manufacturing and supplying energy-efficient, stylish and sustainable electric heating solutions which can be powered by renewable energy.
Due to our expansion, we are looking for a skilled Machine Operator to run our Amada Laser Cutting machine and Amada Press Brake on the night shift (4pm–12am) at our manufacturing site. You'll be producing quality sheet metal components to spec, keeping the machines running efficiently throughout the shift.
What you'll be doing
- Setting up and operating an Amada laser cutting machine and Amada press brake
- Reading and working from engineering drawings and job specifications
- Selecting tooling and programs, and adjusting settings for each job
- Checking parts against drawings using measuring equipment (verniers, protractors, tape)
- Carrying out first-off and in-process quality checks
- Performing routine machine maintenance and reporting faults
- Keeping your work area clean, safe and organised
- Completing production paperwork and shift handovers
What we're looking for
- Experience operating a laser cutter and/or press brake — Amada experience a strong advantage
- Able to read engineering drawings confidently
- Good understanding of sheet metal work and tolerances
- Quality-focused with strong attention to detail
- Health & safety aware
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working a regular night shift
Desirable (not essential):
- Experience programming Amada machines (e.g. AP100 / VPSS)
- CNC setting experience
- Forklift licence
