Stretton Lodge Nursery & Forest School is looking for a Qualified Pre-School Room Leader to join our team and take responsibility for our pre-school children.
This is a lovely opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner who wants to play a key role in children's development, while working in a warm, supportive and engaging environment.
About the role
As Pre-School Room Leader, you'll take the lead in creating a stimulating, nurturing environment where children can learn, explore and develop their confidence in preparation for school.
You'll work closely with the wider team to plan and deliver engaging activities, support children's individual development and ensure the room is a happy, safe and well-organised place to be.
The role will include:
- Leading the day-to-day running of the pre-school room.
- Supporting children's learning and development in line with the EYFS.
- Planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities.
- Creating an environment that encourages curiosity, independence and confidence.
- Monitoring and recording children's progress and development.
- Building strong relationships with children and their families.
- Acting as a positive role model for other practitioners.
- Supporting and guiding colleagues within the room.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and care.
- Working closely with the wider nursery team to provide a consistent approach.
- Helping prepare children for their transition into school.
What we're looking for
You'll need to be minimum Level 3 qualified in Early Years/Childcare and have a genuine passion for working with pre-school children.
We're particularly interested in candidates who are:
- Qualified to Level 3 or above.
- Experienced working within an Early Years setting.
- Confident leading a room or ready to take that next step.
- Warm, caring and approachable.
- Creative and enthusiastic about children's learning.
- Organised and able to take responsibility.
- A strong communicator with colleagues and parents.
- Positive, reliable and able to work as part of a team.
QTS would be highly desirable, although this isn't essential.
Working hours
38 hours per week, with flexibility to work either:
- 4 longer days, or
- 5 shorter days
The role also includes working outside of school term time, so applicants must be comfortable with this working pattern.
