Job Overview
The role is a full-time, on-site role based from Brighouse, responsible for installing, commissioning, servicing, retrofitting and repairing machine tools at customer facilities, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently. Daily activities include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, and carrying out precision adjustments and calibrations. The role involves providing on-site technical support, advising customers on best practices for machine operation, and documenting service activities, parts usage, and recommendations. The Field Service Engineer will work either on their own on service / breakdown jobs or as part of a team on more complex jobs and will be supported closely with internal technical and parts teams. The Engineer will be expected to follow all health and safety procedures, and maintain a professional, customer-focused presence while working at client sites.

About you
You will be experienced with working on large machinery both installing and maintaining CNC and Manual equipment which will involve working at height, accessing areas by steps and ladders as well as working in machine pits.
You must be comfortable to work within a variety of customer premises, from small subcontract engineering machine shops to large Blue Chip national and international engineering companies.
You should have good organisational and strong interpersonal skills plus formal technical qualifications and should be able to demonstrate your experience within this field.
Your time management should be good with a desire to put the customer first but also to have a good work – life balance.
You must be comfortable both working on your own at a customer site and working as part of a small team including socialising with them in the event of stopping away from home.
You should be prepared to stop away from home for a number of nights as the job requires (occasional weekend working may be required)

Qualifications
- Strong field service experience with industrial machinery or machine tools, including on-site installation, commissioning, and repair.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, with the ability to diagnose faults under time constraints.
- Background in technical support and preventive maintenance, including routine inspections, adjustments, and calibration of equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering (or equivalent experience). NVQ3 or Higher in an Engineering subject (Preferred).
- Recognised Engineering apprenticeship. (Preferred)
- Proof of competency to carry out the role.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics, and to use diagnostic tools and measuring equipment safely and accurately.
- Comfort working independently on customer sites, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail in reporting and documentation.
- Valid Full driver’s license (preferably clean) and willingness to travel locally and regionally as required
- Prior experience in a field-based engineering role is advantageous.
- Experience in machining head / Gearbox assembly and correct setting of Bevel gear meshing.
- Hand Scraping for Geometrical adjustment ability and experience.
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and enjoy problem solving.
- Good computing skills (Microsoft Office)
