Practice Accounts Assistant
KC Accountancy Services · Llanfyllin, Mid Wales
£28,000–£30,000 a year · Full-time, permanent · Office-based
We’re a small, friendly accountancy practice in Llanfyllin looking for a Practice Accounts Assistant to join our close-knit team. We’re not a big anonymous firm — we’re a practice that genuinely knows our clients, and they value the personal touch. If you like the idea of building real relationships with the people you look after, rather than being one cog in a large machine, you’ll feel right at home here.
Reporting to the practice owner, you’ll take on a varied mix of bookkeeping, accounts and tax work across a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and the occasional charity. No two days look quite the same, and you’ll have plenty of client contact from the start.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Bookkeeping and VAT return preparation
- Corporation tax and personal tax (self assessment) work
- Helping clients get to grips with MTD for Income Tax as it rolls out
- Building warm, trusting relationships with clients and answering their queries in plain, friendly English
- Keeping our work accurate, on time and compliant with all the relevant regulations
- Using our software day to day — TaxCalc, Iris Elements, Engager, Xero and QuickBooks, and our document capture tools (Apron, Hubdoc and DEXT)
What we’re looking for
- At least 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice — this matters more to us than qualifications
- AAT Level 4 is welcome, but we’ll happily consider someone qualified by experience
- Solid, hands-on knowledge of bookkeeping and accounts preparation
- Well versed in Excel, and comfortable with cloud accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks
- Someone who can explain financial matters clearly to non-financial clients — warmth and patience matter as much as technical skill here
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A team player who’s happy to muck in
- Confident offering sensible advice and recommendations to clients
- A full UK driving licence
What you’ll get
- £28,000–£30,000 a year, depending on experience
- 28 days’ holiday
- Your birthday off, on us
- Workplace pension
- A supportive, down-to-earth team where your work is genuinely valued
Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
