The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior CNC Programmer / Machinist to join our small, highly skilled team.
This is a hands-on role combining CNC programming, machine setting, operation, and maintenance. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable programming in the office and working on the shop floor, taking ownership of projects from concept through to manufacture.
As a senior member of the team, you will also help train and support junior operatives while playing a key role in day-to-day workshop operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines.
- Create and optimise CNC programs for efficient, high-quality production.
- Manufacture bespoke components to demanding specifications.
- Support machine maintenance and workshop organisation.
- Troubleshoot machining and production issues.
- Train and mentor junior team members.
- Assist with production planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to both office-based programming and hands-on shop-floor activities.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' CNC programming and machining experience.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software packages.
- Proven experience with both 3-axis and 5-axis machining.
- Strong background in high-precision, low-volume manufacturing.
- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery independently.
- Experience producing complex bespoke components.
- Knowledge of inspection and quality control procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and workholding.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Positive, practical attitude and willingness to work across all aspects of the manufacturing process.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Rhino and RhinoCAM.
