Transport Assistant
Role Overview
Whitby DAG are looking to recruit a Transport Assistant to support our busy transport operation.
The role involves taking transport bookings, arranging vehicles and drivers, maintaining records, preparing documentation and ensuring smooth day-to-day transport operations. Ensuring all bookings, trips, vehicle movements, driver activities, and logistics documentation are accurately recorded, compliant, and delivered on time. The role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work with customers online and face to face.
Available Position
Part time contracted hours,16 hours per week, worked over 3 or 4 days per week by arrangement
Main Duties
· Handling booking enquiries and completing transport paperwork.
· Providing clear instructions, assisting with route information and supporting drivers.
· Managing vehicle check-in/check-out procedures and ensuring documentation accuracy.
· Ensuring that all DAG Vehicles are road legal and regularly serviced and maintained.
· Ensuring that all volunteer drivers are DBS checked and MIDAS trained.
· Organising keys, paperwork, vehicle packs and ensuring vehicles are ready for use.
· Performing basic visual safety checks and reporting faults or maintenance issues.
· Organising Members trips and outings.
· Updating booking systems, maintaining logs and ensuring accurate administrative records.
· Providing excellent customer service at all times.
· Assisting with occasional local vehicle or equipment movements.
· Identifying and organising appropriate training for drivers and passenger assistants
· Supporting the development of DAG’s transport services, including trips, outings and Hospital Transport
· Supporting volunteering opportunities within the Organisation
Secondary Areas of Responsibility
· To help provide office cover, answer the telephone, email and personal enquiries and to refer as appropriate
· To attend and contribute to staff and planning meetings as appropriate
· To attend regular supervision meetings
· To attend appropriate training as agreed
Essential Criteria
· Friendly and approachable.

· Comfortable working independently.
· Confident communicating with drivers, customers and colleagues.
· Accurate with paperwork and able to follow procedures.
· Physically capable of occasional light equipment handling.
· Customer-focused and professional.
Desirable Criteria
· Have experience in transport, logistics or customer service.
· Possess good IT skills including booking systems and email.
· Have a friendly, confident and professional manner.
· Offer flexible availability.
