About Us
The Hurt Arms is a busy and growing food-led pub, wedding venue and events destination located in the heart of Derbyshire.
Following significant investment and refurbishment, we are continuing to grow our team and are looking for an experienced and motivated Duty Manager to help drive standards, support our management team and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
This is a hands-on role for someone who leads from the front, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service.
The Role
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the venue, ensuring high standards are maintained across all areas of the business.
You will work closely with the management team and be trusted to oversee shifts, lead the team and ensure the smooth running of service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and leading shifts across the venue
- Supporting the restaurant, bar and events operation
- Delivering excellent customer service standards
- Supervising and motivating team members
- Assisting with staff training and development
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally
- Ensuring company standards and procedures are followed
- Supporting stock control and cellar management
- Opening and closing the business when required
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and compliance
- Supporting weddings, events and busy trading periods
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality
- Be confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment
- Lead by example and maintain high standards
- Have strong communication and organisational skills
- Be reliable, professional and hardworking
- Be passionate about hospitality and customer service
- Be flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and busy event periods
- Remain calm under pressure and enjoy problem-solving
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Restaurant management
- Bar management
- Wedding and events operations
- Cellar management
- Stock control and ordering
- Team training and development
