About the role
We're a contract catering business supplying nursery clients with cyclic menus, lunches and tea services. We're looking for a Food Prep Assistant to join our kitchen team, covering bulk food preparation and the morning dispatch pack.
The role includes:
- Bulk processing of fruit & vegetables - peeling, dicing (using kitchen machinery) and blending
- Opening and preparing tinned goods in volume
- Assembling and packing the morning 'cold pack' - checking boxes are correctly assembled and ready to dispatch to our nursery sites.
This is a hands-on, physically active role. You'll be on your feet for the full shift, working at a steady, repetitive pace to keep production on schedule, with regular lifting as part of daily tasks. It suits someone thorough and methodical rather than someone looking for variety - the cold pack in particular needs careful attention to detail, checking against a list rather than working from instinct.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or contract catering prep environment
- Comfortable maintaining a fast, repetitive pace for a full shift
- Reliable and consistent - this job is critical to getting food out on time each morning
- Careful and thorough, particularly when checking dispatch packs against requirements
