About Kinship Housing
Kinship Housing & Support provides supported accommodation and housing-related support for adults with a range of needs, including homelessness, mental health challenges, learning disabilities, and other vulnerabilities. Our aim is to help individuals access safe accommodation, stability, and the support needed to move forward positively.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and confident Housing Referral & Outreach Officer to help develop referral pathways and support individuals into suitable accommodation services across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
The Role
This is a varied role combining outreach, relationship building, and client engagement. You will work closely with referral partners and professionals to identify individuals who may benefit from supported accommodation and help guide them through the referral process.
The role would suit someone with experience in supported housing, outreach work, support services, housing administration, or community engagement who is confident communicating with professionals and service users alike.
This is a self-employed position requiring flexibility, independence, and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
Key ResponsibilitiesReferral Development & Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with referral partners including local authorities, social workers, probation services, hospitals, charities, and community organisations.
- Promote KHS supported accommodation services to external agencies and professionals.
- Attend networking meetings, outreach visits, and community events to develop referral opportunities.
- Manage and follow up on referral enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain an active pipeline of referrals and support positive occupancy outcomes.
Client Engagement
- Support prospective residents through the referral and intake process.
- Gather relevant information and documentation from applicants and referral agencies.
- Assist with arranging viewings, move-ins, and transport where required.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with vulnerable individuals.
Administration & Reporting
- Keep accurate records of referrals, outreach activity, and service user information.
- Update internal systems and provide regular progress updates to management.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for service improvement.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies and data protection requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Experience in support work, housing, outreach, tenancy sustainment, or community engagement.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Understanding of supported accommodation and the challenges faced by vulnerable individuals.
Desirable
- Experience working within supported housing, exempt accommodation, homelessness services, or social care.
- Existing professional relationships within Birmingham support services.
- Knowledge of local authority referral pathways and housing support services.
Work Location: Birmingham and the West Midlands (community-based and office-based as required)
Job Type: Full-time, Self-Employed
Pay: £13.00 per hour
