Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic IT Support Services Director to lead our organisation’s information technology strategies and operations. The successful candidate will oversee the planning, implementation, and management of IT infrastructure, systems, and services to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive technical expertise across a broad range of IT disciplines, combined with strong leadership and management skills. The IT Support Services Director will be instrumental in driving innovation, maintaining system integrity, and supporting organisational growth through effective utilisation of emerging technologies.
Duties
- Develop and execute comprehensive IT strategies aligned with organisational goals, focusing on cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Oversee the management of enterprise systems including ERP systems, SQL databases, Oracle, MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of network infrastructure encompassing WAN, VPNs, LANs, MPLS, DNS, firewall security measures, network security protocols, and system administration.
- Manage virtualisation environments using vSphere and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Direct application development projects using technologies such as.NET, JavaScript (including Angular and React), PHP, Node.js, Python, HTML/CSS for web-based solutions.
- Ensure compliance with recognised standards such as NIST standards for information security and implement robust data warehouse solutions.
- Oversee system design and development processes following SDLC principles while integrating DevOps practices for continuous improvement.
- Manage cybersecurity initiatives including firewall configuration, VPN security measures, network security protocols, and system hardening procedures.
- Lead cross-functional teams in project management activities to deliver IT solutions on time and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Collaborate with vendors and negotiate contracts for hardware/software procurement; manage relationships with cloud service providers like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Provide leadership in implementing AI and machine learning solutions to enhance organisational capabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies such as server management, SAN storage solutions, APIs integration, VoIP systems, Linux/Unix environments, Active Directory management, Microsoft Exchange administration, and help desk operations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to translate technical concepts into clear business insights; prepare reports on system performance and security posture.
Experience
- Proven track record in senior IT management roles with extensive experience in managing large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in cloud computing platforms including AWS and Azure; experience with cloud migration strategies is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of information security frameworks such as NIST standards along with practical experience implementing network security measures including firewalls and VPNs.
- Demonstrable expertise in application development using a variety of programming languages including C#, JavaScript (Angular/React), PHP, Python; familiarity with DevOps practices is advantageous.
- Experience managing enterprise databases such as SQL Server, Oracle or MongoDB; proficiency in data warehousing concepts is essential.
- Knowledge of virtualisation technologies like vSphere or similar platforms; experience with SAN storage solutions preferred.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams across multiple projects; excellent communication skills are vital for stakeholder engagement.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, PMP or equivalent are preferred; a degree in Computer Science or related field is required.
Pay: £5,300.00-£8,000.00 per month
