At Laine Theatre Arts, the Head of Integration is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the College's Integration provision, ensuring the highest standards of musical theatre training through outstanding musical direction, teaching and rehearsal practice.
The role leads the College's team of Musical Directors, providing artistic leadership across Integration classes, productions, showcases and assessments. The postholder is responsible for ensuring consistency and excellence in musical standards, curriculum delivery and student development, while supporting the College's commitment to industry-leading vocational training.
Working collaboratively with Heads of Department, Directors, Choreographers and Production staff, the Head of Integration ensures that music is delivered to the highest professional standard and supports the artistic vision of the College. The role also contributes to curriculum development, quality assurance and the continued enhancement of the student experience.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Leadership
- Lead the strategic development of the College's Integration provision.
- Ensure Integration teaching reflects current musical theatre industry practice and professional standards.
- Promote excellence in musical interpretation, storytelling and performance.
- Review and develop Integration programmes to ensure clear progression across all year groups.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the College's musical theatre curriculum.
- Champion high artistic and educational standards throughout the Integration programme.
Musical Direction
- Oversee the delivery of musical direction across College productions, showcases, assessments and performance projects.
- Coordinate the allocation of Musical Directors across productions and teaching.
- Support and mentor Musical Directors throughout rehearsal processes.
- Ensure consistency in musical preparation and rehearsal standards.
- Advise on repertoire selection and musical interpretation.
- Work with creative teams to ensure music effectively supports performance outcomes.
- Contribute to auditions, casting processes and production planning where required.
Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership and line management of the College's Musical Directors.
- Allocate workloads and teaching responsibilities.
- Conduct regular supervision, appraisal and performance review meetings.
- Support the recruitment, induction and development of Musical Directors.
- Identify professional development opportunities and encourage best practice.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment.
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality Integration teaching where required.
- Coach students in musical interpretation, storytelling through song and professional rehearsal practice.

Curriculum Development
- Review and enhance Integration schemes of work.

Quality Assurance
- Monitor the quality and consistency of Integration teaching.

Productions and Performance
- Work collaboratively with Directors, Choreographers and Production teams throughout rehearsals and performances.

- Contribute to College showcases, productions, open days and recruitment events.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Course Leader, Directors and Heads of Department to support the College's strategic objectives.

- Represent the Integration department professionally within the College and externally where appropriate.
