Job Summary
We are seeking a practical and reliable Commercial Drainage Support Operative to join our team.
The role is intended to support both JetVac operations and CCTV drainage survey works. The main requirement is that the successful candidate holds a Category C1 licence or above, so they can support the driving and operation of larger commercial drainage vehicles as part of the team.
This is a training and development role. We do not expect the successful candidate to already be a lead surveyor or fully experienced JetVac operator. Training will be provided in drainage operations, JetVac support, CCTV survey assistance, site setup, chamber access, hose handling, basic asset recording, equipment support and safe working procedures.
The role would suit someone practical, reliable, willing to learn, comfortable working outdoors, and happy to support a growing commercial drainage operation. There will also be a requirement to work away from home when needed on commercial and national projects.
Responsibilities
Drive company vehicles where licensed, trained and authorised, including vehicles requiring Category C1 or above.
Support JetVac operations, including site setup, hose handling, tanker support, drainage cleaning and safe working around drainage assets.
Act as a second operative on CCTV drainage surveys when required.
Assist lead surveyors with site setup, chamber access, photographs, basic measurements and recording of drainage information.
Support the use of CCTV, survey, jetting and drainage equipment.
Assist with GPS/GNSS location work and basic asset recording where required.
Keep accurate site notes, photographs and job information.
Maintain vehicles, equipment and tools in good working condition.
Follow company procedures, risk assessments, method statements, confined space controls and site safety requirements.
Work closely with surveyors, JetVac operators, operations managers, site teams and clients.
Be willing to work away from home where required.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Category C1 licence or above.
Full UK driving licence.
Practical, hands-on attitude.
Reliable, flexible and willing to learn.
Comfortable working outdoors and in physically demanding site conditions.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Willingness to support both JetVac works and CCTV survey works.
Desirable:
Category C / HGV Class 2 licence.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to strengthen the commercial drainage team by recruiting someone with a Category C1 licence or above who can be trained to support JetVac operations and CCTV drainage survey works.
The role is designed to increase flexibility, reduce reliance on ad hoc driver cover, and provide a clear development route into commercial drainage operations.
