Podium Café is looking for a friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic Café Team Member to join our team.
Located within Podium Place, our café sits at the heart of a unique automotive destination, welcoming everyone from our regular coffee customers and local community to car enthusiasts, members and guests attending our busy calendar of events.
This is a hands on hospitality role where great customer service comes first. You’ll be serving customers, preparing drinks, waiting tables and helping to keep the café clean, organised and welcoming throughout the day.
Previous hospitality experience would be beneficial, but attitude, reliability and a genuine willingness to provide excellent service are just as important.
Employment Details
20 to 30 hours per week across approximately 3 to 5 days
Weekend availability is essential, with occasional evening work required for events
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
3 month probationary period
Trial shift required for shortlisted candidates
Your Key Responsibilities
Deliver excellent customer service by welcoming customers, taking orders and creating a friendly and professional experience throughout their visit
Provide attentive table service, including delivering food and drinks, clearing tables and checking that customers have everything they need
Prepare and serve drinks including speciality coffee, tea, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages
Maintain excellent cleanliness standards throughout the café, including tables, counters, service areas, equipment and customer facing spaces
Keep on top of cleaning throughout every shift, rather than allowing tasks to build up at the end of the day
Support food service, including preparing and plating selected café items in line with our procedures
Maintain a well presented café, ensuring tables are reset promptly, displays are stocked and the customer environment remains clean and inviting
Support opening and closing duties, including cleaning, restocking and preparing the café for the next service
Work efficiently during busy periods, particularly during weekends, car meets and events
Follow food hygiene, health and safety and licensing procedures at all times
Support Podium events providing the same high standard of hospitality outside of our usual café service
About You
You’re naturally friendly, approachable and comfortable speaking with customers
You take pride in providing excellent service and noticing the small details that make a difference
You understand that cleanliness is an essential part of hospitality and are happy to get stuck into cleaning throughout your shift
You’re comfortable waiting tables, clearing down and keeping customer areas looking their best
You can remain calm, organised and positive when the café gets busy
You’re reliable, punctual and comfortable working as part of a small team
You’re willing to learn our coffee standards and develop your barista skills
Previous café, restaurant or hospitality experience would be advantageous
You’re flexible and available to work weekends and occasional evenings
You’re happy to serve alcohol and support all aspects of café service
An interest in coffee or cars is a bonus, but definitely not essential.
