We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our Bath team at Society Café.
Society Café is a small, independent group of specialty coffee shops based in Bath, Bristol, Oxford, Cardiff, and Cheltenham. We are passionate about exceptional coffee and warm, genuine hospitality. Alongside strong technical coffee skills, we’re looking for someone who delivers impeccable customer service, has a sharp eye for detail, and brings a positive, can-do attitude to every shift.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership position. You’ll work closely with the Shop Manager to oversee daily operations, maintain outstanding service standards, and ensure consistently high-quality coffee. You’ll support and inspire a team of talented baristas who take pride in delivering specialty-level craft across everything they do.
Energy, passion, and a genuine desire to create memorable customer experiences are essential. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a growing business, embraces positive change, and can confidently lead a team during busy periods.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Management experience within the hospitality industry
- A strong background in specialty coffee
- The ability to lead by example and remain calm under pressure
- A natural talent for building team morale and creating a positive atmosphere

Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Lead, coach, and inspire the team
- Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure every shift runs smoothly
- Champion exceptional customer service
- Maintain outstanding attention to detail across all areas of the business
- Assist with rotas and ordering
- Take responsibility for day-to-day Health & Safety and Food Hygiene compliance
- Consistently produce excellent espresso, milk-based drinks, and AeroPress brews - even during busy periods
- Dial in coffee to recipe using a Mahlkönig E80 GBW, E65GBW, and Mahlkönig EK43
