Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and friendly Soft Play assistant/ Café All Rounder to join our vibrant team! In this versatile role, you will be the heartbeat of our café, delivering exceptional service while handling a variety of tasks from barista duties to food preparation and customer engagement. The working hours (25.5 hours) are fixed and as follows:
- Saturday - 8:30-6:00pm (30 minute lunch break)
- Sunday - 8:30 - 6:00pm (30 minute lunch break)
- Monday - 2:00 - 5:45pm (no break)
- Tuesday - 2:00 - 5:45pm (no break)
Holiday entitlement of 142.8 hours per calendar year.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve high-quality coffee beverages as a skilled barista, ensuring customer satisfaction with every cup
- Assist with food preparation, including assembling sandwiches, salads, and other light menu items in accordance with food safety standards
- Serve customers efficiently at the counter or table, providing friendly and attentive service to enhance their experience
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Manage cash register operations, handle transactions accurately, and provide correct change using basic math skills
- Support the team during busy periods by multitasking across different roles such as taking orders, restocking supplies, and cleaning
- Follow all food safety protocols diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and customers
Skills
- Proven experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is highly desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling and hygiene
- Ability to serve customers with enthusiasm, patience, and professionalism
- Basic math skills for cash handling and order processing
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy hours
- Capable of performing food preparation tasks accurately and safely
- Excellent communication skills to engage positively with customers and team members
- First Aid Qualification preferred
