Role:
BCB is seeking a Engineering Lead in Cardiff to lead engineering maintenance operations, improve equipment reliability, and drive preventative maintenance strategies within a manufacturing environment. This role will support continuous improvement, reduce downtime, and lead a team of engineers to deliver safe, efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the maintenance function, driving a proactive reliability-focused culture.
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment performance.
- Manage maintenance activities, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions following equipment failures.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering teams to optimise site performance.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs, including uptime and planned versus reactive maintenance.
- Manage spare parts, maintenance budgets, and improvement projects.
- Support equipment installations, commissioning, and capital investment projects.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and statutory requirements.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience managing maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Multi-skilled engineering capability across mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Experience implementing preventative maintenance systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of health and safety compliance requirements.
- Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, influence, and develop teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to reliability improvement.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications & Attributes:
- HNC/HND or apprenticeship-trained in an engineering discipline (essential).
- Engineering degree desirable.
- IOSH trained or willing to complete within 6 months.
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as ATEX, DSEAR, PUWER, and Legionella desirable.
- Safety-focused with a commitment to quality and operational excellence.
- Confident leader with a hands-on, can-do approach.
- Strong communicator able to work effectively across all levels of the business.
