APN Hotel Group is excited to be welcoming Thwaite Mills into our growing portfolio of hospitality and leisure venues. As we begin the next chapter for this unique historic site, we're looking for an experienced and hardworking Groundskeeper to help maintain and enhance the grounds, ensuring the estate is presented to the highest standard all year round.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and has experience operating heavy machinery and maintaining large outdoor spaces.
The Role
As Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the extensive grounds surrounding Thwaite Mills. The role is varied and hands-on, requiring someone who is proactive, reliable, and comfortable working independently.
Duties will include:
- Maintaining lawns, gardens, trees, hedges, pathways and outdoor areas.
- Operating and maintaining industrial groundskeeping equipment, including tractors, diggers, ride-on mowers and other machinery.
- Carrying out seasonal landscaping and planting.
- Maintaining the lake and surrounding areas, ensuring they remain safe, clean and well-presented.
- Monitoring water quality and vegetation where appropriate, with an understanding of general lake maintenance and environmental care.
- Performing general repairs, fencing, drainage maintenance and other outdoor maintenance tasks.
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and used safely.
- Keeping the site clean, tidy and welcoming for visitors.
- Supporting with additional estate maintenance projects as required.
Essential Requirements
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a groundskeeping, estate maintenance or similar role.
- Experience operating industrial machinery such as tractors, diggers, excavators or similar equipment.
- Knowledge or practical experience in maintaining lakes, ponds or other bodies of water.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Access to their own vehicle, as the site requires independent travel.
- The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including weekends.
Desirable
- Relevant machinery or plant operator qualifications (e.g. CPCS, NPORS or similar).
- Chainsaw, pesticide or horticultural qualifications.
- Basic maintenance or handyman skills.
