Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Ground Maintenance Operative to join a small team that’s expanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and functional. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for horticulture, gardening tasks to develop their skills within a professional environment. Prior experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
Duties
- Conduct routine landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, weeding, and planting
- Operate power tools such as trimmers, blowers, and lawn mowers to maintain grounds
- Use hand tools for planting, digging, and general maintenance tasks
- Operate machinery
- Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on equipment and machinery
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of work sites by clearing debris and ensuring proper storage of tools
- Support construction or renovation projects related to outdoor spaces as require
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge in landscape/grounds maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools and small machinery is advantageous
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively
- Familiarity with operating equipment such as excavators and irrigation systems is desirable
- Basic understanding of maintenance procedures for outdoor environments
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including lifting, digging, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- A valid PERSON (Personal Identification Number) or relevant certification is necessary for certain machinery operation roles
- Prior experience in construction or groundskeeping will be considered an asset
