Engineering Manager
Sheffield
Full-time / Permanent
Set the direction. Raise the standard. Deliver engineering that works.…
At Eclipse Magnetics, part of the Spear & Jackson Group, we’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Sheffield-based team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll take ownership of engineering delivery across the business, from day-to-day design work to new product development, cost control, and technical compliance.
You’ll oversee the design of orders and development of new products, ensuring everything meets company standards and relevant regulations, including Machinery and ATEX directives. Alongside this, you’ll manage departmental costs, review technical costings, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce waste and improve efficiency.
This role is as much about structure as it is about delivery. You’ll refine engineering workflows, embed best practices across design and documentation, and ensure the team consistently delivers accurate, high-quality work. You’ll identify risks early, remove bottlenecks, and keep projects moving at pace without compromising standards.
You’ll also work closely with other departments, keeping communication clear and making sure engineering supports wider business priorities. From cost estimates to lead times, your input will help ensure projects are realistic, achievable, and well executed.
At its core, this is a leadership role. You’ll manage and develop the engineering team, building a high-performing environment where people are supported, challenged, and able to grow. Through regular feedback and a hands-on approach, you’ll strengthen capability and close any skills gaps within the team.
We’re looking for someone with experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, who has led teams and delivered projects successfully. You’ll be confident using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and comfortable working within regulated engineering frameworks. Strong organisation, clear communication, and practical problem-solving are key.
This is a full-time, site-based role in Sheffield. If you’re looking for a role where you can shape how engineering is delivered, not just what gets delivered, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
