Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant who is passionate about caring for the elderly in a small, homely Residential Home on the outskirts of Bangor, Co. Down. The Residential Home is a 23 bed home with a staff team who are passionate about providing a high standard of care, and ensuring Residents experience a good quality of life.
The successful candidate will be capable of assisting Resident's with a variety of tasks and responsibilities, to include: medication administration, care planning and documentation, personal hygiene support, serving meals, activities and a wide range of other support.
As a Senior Care Assistant you will be the person in charge on shift and will lead the team to ensure a high standard of care is provided at all times. This is a night shift position and the successful candidate will be expected to work a range of shifts each week, on a rota basis. Where possible, alternate weekends off will be provided. Additional hours will be available at times.
We are seeking someone wishing to work full time nights, but if you would be available or part time work we would also be keen to hear from you.
This post is a permanent position.
Whilst a Level 3 qualification is not essential, it would be desirable, and the right applicant would be supported to study further if desired.
A minimum of 1 years experience in a Senior Care role, to include medication administration is a requirement for this post.

Duties
- Deliver personalised care to residents in accordance with individual care plans, promoting independence and dignity.
- Supervise and mentor junior care staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, ensuring safety at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, including writing and updating care plans and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members to coordinate care needs.
- Support the development and implementation of tailored care plans that meet each resident’s unique requirements.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through proactive leadership and clear communication skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience working within a care home setting, with a focus on senior care or similar environments.
- Supervising or leadership experience in a healthcare or social care context.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to develop, implement, and review care plans accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations applicable to residential care settings.
