We’re Hiring: Sales & Enquiries Manager
The person who turns enquiries into orders - and never lets one slip through the cracks.
Location: Wolverhampton (office-based) Salary: Competitive, depending on what you bring to the table
About Us
We fabricate and supply steel buildings, staircases, mezzanines, balconies and structural steelwork. Real products. Real deadlines. Real customers who want proper answers, not voicemails.
We move quickly. We build properly. And when someone picks up the phone or fires off an enquiry, we want them speaking to someone brilliant.
Our golden rule? We only employ happy people. If you can laugh, deliver and keep a customer smiling even when it’s complicated - you’ll fit right in.
The Role
This is a full-cycle sales role. That means you’re not just setting appointments for someone else to close, and you’re not just closing what someone else has qualified. You’re doing the whole thing - from first contact to signed order.
You’ll be the person who picks up enquiries, figures out what the customer actually needs, sends the right quote, and then - crucially - follows up until you get an answer. Yes or no. Not “sometime next week.”
The role is 98% office-based - but this is the real world, and sometimes a face-to-face meeting or a site visit makes all the difference. You’ll need to be comfortable getting out to see customers when the occasion calls for it. A full UK driving licence is therefore essential.
You will:
- Manage every inbound enquiry so nothing falls through the cracks;
- Qualify leads and run discovery calls to understand what the customer actually needs (and spot what else we might be able to help them with);
- Work with the director on quotes initially - and eventually fly solo as your product knowledge builds;
- Handle objections, myths, fears and misconceptions about steel buildings and staircases with confidence and honesty;
- Chase. Chase again. Then chase one more time. Politely, professionally, relentlessly;
- Cold call prospects and get their attention without being annoying about it;
- Attend the occasional site visit or face-to-face meeting when it’s the right call;
- Keep the CRM up to date so the pipeline is always visible and nothing goes quiet unnoticed.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is genuinely good on the phone, naturally organised, and quietly unstoppable when they want to get a result.
You don’t need to know the difference between a portal frame and a mezzanine floor on day one. We’ll teach you the product. But you do need to be the kind of person who picks things up fast and genuinely enjoys talking to customers.
Must-haves:
- Proven track record in sales or customer-facing roles - ideally B2B;
- Confident, warm and clear on the phone (and in writing);
- Exceptionally organised - you’re the person who has a system for everything;
- Persistent without being pushy - you follow up until you get closure;
- Commercially sharp - you can spot an upsell opportunity without being told;
- Can handle a "no" without taking it personally, and a "yes" without losing your head;
- Holds a full UK driving licence - for those occasions when face-to-face is the right move;
- Picks up product knowledge quickly and applies it with confidence.
Bonus points for:
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering or building products;
- Having handled technical or bespoke product sales before;
- Used a CRM properly (not just opened it and closed it again);
- Making a great cup of tea ✔ (optional but appreciated).
What’s in it for You?
- A competitive salary with genuine earning potential as you grow into the role;
- Real variety - every project and customer is different;
- Direct line to the director - your ideas will be heard, not filed away;
- A team that values smiles as much as results;
- The chance to build something - this role has real room to grow as the business does;
- No toxic office politics. No meaningless KPIs for the sake of it. Just good work and good people.
What Success Looks Like
Within 90 days, we’d expect to see:
- Every enquiry attended to and tracked;
- A healthy, visible pipeline with no mystery dropouts;
- Customers actually getting called back;
- Quotes going out on time and getting followed up properly;
- A growing product knowledge that means you need less hand-holding on quotes.
Within 6-12 months:
- You’re quoting confidently without needing the director in the room;
- You’re generating new business through outbound activity;
- Customers are asking for you by name.
How to Apply
Apply via Indeed. When you do, please:
- Answer the qualifying questions - we actually read them;
And include a short covering note telling us:
- A sale you’re proud of and why;
- How you manage a customer who goes quiet;
- What your follow-up process looks like.
One more thing - and this matters: we are looking for someone with real attention to detail. Someone who reads things properly and follows instructions. So, if you skip the Indeed questions or leave the covering note blank, your application will be rejected. Not because we’re being difficult - but because you’ve already told us something important about how you work.
If you’re the right person, you’ll have read every word of this and already know what to do.
